Polarstar hopped up the last rock that lead to the entrance to the large cave that SnowClan called their home. He landed on the cool gray rock and shook his fur out, especially his legs. They had become covered in snow. The snow had been melting, but it was still deep. IceClan might have been further up the mountain, but SnowClan's territory was much deeper in snow. After Polarstar had walked in a few steps. He turned around to see his hunting partner. They had caught two fat rabbits, and Polarstar had one of them now. Hazelsplash should have held the other one. he dropped his rabbit and called out, "You there?"

"Just coming." Hazelsplash muttered, her voice muflfed from the furry rabbit in her jaws. She leaped up a final step, landing on smooth gray rock. After trudging through deep snow, she was relieved to pad on a solid surface once more. Dropping her rabbit, she lifted her head, shaking her slender body to remove snow droplets from it. "Better?" She inquired curtly, her irritable nature flashing through for a bit. Her wide green eyes flashed and she flicked her tail. Picking her rabbit up again, she transported it to the fresh-kill pile, and placed it down there. She scanned the cave, taking it in, and all its deserted feelings.

A grumble came from the cave entrance. Hazelsplash pricked her ears, waving her tail for Polarstar to keep quiet. The grumble grew louder, as if whatever it was, was getting closer. "You hear that?" Hazelsplash murmured, slinking to the edge of the camp. She peered out, seeing no movement. Well, that threw out ideas of intruders or unwelcome creatures. Stepping out of the SnowClan camp, Hazelsplash scanned the land with her riveting green eyes. Almost at once, but too late, she saw a large sheet of snow flowing towards her. Her yelp was cut off as it smacked into her chest and drove her back. Hazelsplash tumbled helplessly in the snow, not knowing which way was up anymore. StarClan help me!

Polarstar gasped. He like all SnowClan cats were trained for an avalanche. What a cat in this situation was supposed to do was wait for the snow to stop and very keep you eye off of the spot of the trapped cat. If the cat went under, you were supposed to follow the area that they went under. After the avalanche stops, you are supposed to run out where the snow is shallowest, but in the quickest route. Then you dig and bring them back to the medicine den for the cold if needed.
Luckily, the avalanche was a short one and Polarstar had a perfect view of the crash when it happened. He keep his eyes starring at Hazelsplash. He was shaking as much as a baby tree in a blizzard and his heart beat was racing. he could almost feel his eyes watering slightly from fear. He would hate to see a member of his clan die on his watch. The avalanche was slowing down, but Polarstar he was going to break rule number one. You are never supposed to go out on a moving avalanche no matter how slow it is, but Polarstar didn't care. He ran out at full speed on to the deepened snow. His feet were sucked down a little, but he was able to go on. The uplifted snow from the avalanche was obscuring his view so he screamed. "Hazelsplash!" the avalanche was almost to a stop now, but it could start at any moment.

Hazelsplash, though dizzy and sore all over, had not felt any inordinary pains, and she kenw she was alright. Dazed, she heard a cat call her name. Polarstar, she thought as ehr mind cleared. She opened her mouth to call back, bt her voice was muffled with snow. She growled. Thinking swiftly, she remembered her training sessions. If you are caught in an avalanche, wait. You may be turned upsiude down, or even sideways, so don't try digging up, you will only get lsot and make it harder for you to be found.
So Hazelsplash waited. Her fur was growing cold now, and her muscles were shrieking from the tumble she had overcome. The pretty dappled warrior knew Polarstar had seen the avalanche, and, if he remembered his training from when he was an apprentice, he would have followed the route she fell with. He would come, she had to believe that. But, Hazelsplash thought, if he cannot find me in time, I will be proud to join StarClan. A darker thought overshadowed her others; the tortie she-cat knew she didn't want to leave this early. Faith kept the yung warrior strong, and she waited patiently for ehr rescuer.

The misty air was fading a little, but Polarstar had not stopped running. He was not in the mood to have a great warrior of his clan die in such a routine thing as an avalanche. All Snowclan members spent hours of training to work on avalanche rescue, but it was all coming back to him. He grunted as he pulled his feet out of the freezing snow, but he was lucky to have very furry legs to keep him warm. He was taking larger steps and at a quicker pace. The mist like air had settled and vision was restored to normal, and he saw many lumps in the ground. Any one of them could be Hazelsplash he let out a sigh of frustration and closed his eyes to image where she was, but then, something happened. He stepped on a warm furry rock like thing. He felt it jump a little and he jumped up a little and started to dig hard.

Hazelsplash waited. By now the snow was seeping through her pelt and she shivered slightly. Before she knew it though, she felt pressure bouncing off of her skull, and hope and joy flared in her chest. She knew Polarstar would come, she knew he would find her. With a mighty heave, the dappled she-cat shot upward, and burst through the surface of the snow. The thick layer broken a bit, she found it easy and slipped out of her prison like a fish out of water. Still, her shoulder hurt and she was cold. Flopping onto one side, Hazelsplash licked her sore shoulder and purred in a quavering tone. "Knew you would come. Thanks for the rescue there." She mewed shortly in between licks. After a moment, she raised her head and turned her striking green gaze onto Polarstar, their depths filled with gratitude and thankfulness.
